Patrick Roberts ready to impress new Celtic boss and Pep Guardiola

first_imgPatrick Roberts says the prospect of impressing a new manager at Celtic and Manchester City isn’t daunting as it has become the norm in his young career. The 19-year-old, who joined the Scottish champions from the English giants on an 19-month loan deal in January, will have to prove himself to Ronny Deila’s replacement as well as City’s new boss Pep Guardiola next season.Roberts, who signed a £12m deal with City last summer, is well used to managerial instability having seen plenty of comings and goings during his spell with his first club Fulham. And the 19-year-old, who was named Premiership Player of the Month for April, believes his experiences at Craven Cottage will stand him in good stead for whoever arrives in Glasgow’s east end. He said: “I’ve had new managers when I was at Fulham, I think I had four so new managers come and go. It’s part and parcel of football.“My priority is always to impress the manager so whoever I have to impress then I’ll try to do so. If you can make a good first impression it can be good.“A manager comes in and they have players they like or bring in their own so if you’re already here you have to make sure they like you.”last_img
